GSMP results presented at IWSC5
GSMP results were presented in a Keynote Address “Tracking the Lives of Pelagic Sharks in a Changing World” at the 5th International Whale Shark Conference, Ningaloo Centre Exmouth, Western Australia.
Because ship strikes are a growing problem for whale sharks given the increase in global shipping movements, a new study was also proposed – to analyse the locations and timings of whale shark interactions with global shipping routes.
Researchers at IWSC5 were very positive about the study and many more satellite tracks of individual whale sharks were promised to be contributed to the GSMP Database. We’re looking forward to taking this analysis forward…
